3 bananas mashed (should be a cup or more) 1/2 cup of oil (or butter) 1/2 cup of sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1.5 C. of old fashioned oat meal 1 C. flour 1/4 to 3/4 cup of chocolate chips
So my Mom made us some delicious Oat Burgers last time she was here and we have made them 3 more times. Here is the recipe.
1 Tbsp. garlic powder 1 Tbsp. sage 1/4 C. nutritional yeast 1/2 C. Oil 1 C. Tamari ( can use braggs or soy sauce as well) 8 C. H2O 4 C. Quick oats 4 C. Old fashioned oats
Bring water to boil with all seasonings in it. Stir in old fashioned oats and boil for 1-2 minutes until they just start to cook. then stir in quick oats and turn off heat. Let sit until cool enough to handle. Mom spreads the mixture out on her roll pat and uses a biscuit cutter to cut them into patties but you can form them with your hands. Once burgers are formed place them on cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Flip them over and bake another 15 minutes. Voila they are done.
Growing up my Mother was one of those creative and gifted cooks who never made food from a recipe and it always came out incredible. We lived in Africa for most of my childhood and she figured out how to make some good old favorite comfort foods like apple pie without any apples (we could not get apples where we lived). My siblings and I are always trying to share good food recipes and especially Mom's food recipes that we learn from her when she visits us so I decided to create this blog for that purpose.
The name of the Blog "Beautimous" is also inspired by my Mother who makes up words all the time and we actually always seem to know and communicate with her language quite well. We call it Berta-ism's and "Beautimous" is one of those words that I seem to use all the time and reminds me of Mom.
If you have stumbled upon this blog I hope that you will find a delicious recipe and that you might comment and share your own recipes as well. Most of the recipes are vegetarian but very tasty so Enjoy!
